While Prime Minister Orbán is a tough man, said President Trump at the joint press conference this afternoon in the White House, he is a respected man and has done the right thing on immigration.

“You’ve done a good job, you kept your country safe,” President Donald Trump said, opening the joint press conference with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in the White House this afternoon.

“The relationship is very good with Hungary,” President Trump said. “People have a lot of respect for the prime minister,” he continued. “He has done the right thing according to many people on immigration.”

Europe is suffering from a lot of problems today, according to the U.S. president, because “they have done it in a different way than the prime minister”.

Speaking about the fundamental values of the Hungarian government, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the most important principle remains “from the people, by the people, for the people”.

“We are proud to stand together with the United States on fighting illegal migration, on terrorism and protecting Christian communities all around the world,” PM Orbán said, referring to the extensive international aid efforts of his government.

“[Hungary is] a member of NATO. And a very good member of NATO,” said President Trump responding swiftly to critical questions directed at PM Orbán.

“Mr. Prime Minister, thank you very much for being at the White House,” President Trump said in closing.
